Name: Felix Hernandez
Alias: Shrieker
AKAs: Felix
Physical Description
Hair: Dark, kept in a short spikey mohawk more often than not, and usually dyed a radical colour that changes semi-regularly (more often than not a radioactive green)
Eyes: Dark brown
Ethnicity: Felix is an American Mexican, born in New York to Mexican immigrant parents
Age: 40
Build: Felix has a slim athletic build
Uniform: Shrieker is no longer an active X-Man, and as such has no uniform.
Personal Style: Felix's style is of a slightly muted punk rock aesthetic; check shirts, baggy jeans, chains and straps, piercings, boots, sleeveless t-shirts with rock band or out-there images/designs
Psychological Description
Personality: Shrieker was of a significantly rebellious mind-set as a teenager, always looking for ways to be in trouble and fight against the 'regime', but never malicious to the individual. He had strong opinions, and a strong voice to match it. He was supremely confident, bordering on egotistical, and a consummate show-man, especially while singing on the semi-professional bar circuit. Which he still does now. He's still a rebel, but is more considerate and reasoned in the pursuits he lends his attention to. He is still confident, and loud, but in a far less "in-your-face" manner, unless it's a particular hot-topic he's interested in. He is fiercely loyal and caring, to all that he feels deserves it, but especially his family and friends.
Relationships: Felix is still with his long-term partner, and mother to his child, Shauna Chang. They live and work together in New York City running a small-scale entertainment and performance agency that caters to up-and-comers an venues in the local scene
Powers & Abilities: Shrieker has the ability to produce screams of multiple frequency and volume, almost always with a forceful impact and effect. Shrieker is also far better equipped to hear things of such frequency and volume.
Weaknesses: Unlike his daughter, Shrieker can only produce his screams with his throat and mouth, and the finer control and manipulation of intricate vibration and oscilation of sound is not in his skill-set.
Skills: Shrieker took every opportunity to learn combat skills to supplement his mutant abilities, and as such is quite a skilled martial artist.
Equipment: Shrieker keeps no particular "hero-ing" gadgets, but has a decently kitted out van (for his job, but he's upgraded it more than he needed to, simply out of personal interest and want) and a cell phone.
Background: Felix Hernandez was born in the 1980s to Mexican parents who had immigrated to America in the '70s. They were legal, his mother (Gabriella) having moved up on a working visa as an experienced midwife, and eventually taking on a permanent position. His father (Julio) was an engineer by trade, and had initially just laboured on building sites until he proved himself and became a foreman for the company.
With his parents as busy as they were, always working and often extended or unsociable hours, Felix was left to entertain himself. He never felt lonely or unloved, despite their working patterns, both his parents made all efforts to make sure he knew they were there and loved him, which they very much were and very much did. But, Felix developed some considerable rebellious habits. He was never a troublemaker for troublemaking's sake; there was always some sort of cause or reason he felt he had to do the things he did, even as a young child.
His powers developed at 12.There were hints of them before then, but it was then that they really came to term. Gabriella was already aware of Xavier's Institute and made inquiries that quickly led to Felix's enrolment there. Felix continued to live at home with his parents, living not too far from the institute, but spent a lot of time there when his parents were working. He became quick and fast friends with many students, always an affable approachable sort, if perhaps a bit much for some with his confidence bordering on obnoxious arrogance, and strong and often loud opinions. It wasn't until he became friends with Rocky, and easy-going sort that accepted him for who he was, that he really found his best friend. Eventually, Jacques joined their group when he started living at the Institute several years later. It was not long after that that they encountered Nina Childs and Night-Child, and eventually took Night-Child under their wing when Nina unfortunately died.
Felix was a good student, particularly in drama, music and art. The four friends had started a band as teenagers/young adults and performed around the city in bars and local events. Eventually, the others moved on to other interests after graduation (though they do still occasionally jam for old times sake) but Felix wanted to do that kind of thing forever. He continued to gig, being a talented singer, and worked with a rotation of local groups fat various small gigs. He even did some session work on a few albums, working with bigger names. But he never quite made it big himself, despite his talent.
It was while he was still working the circuit at 20 that he met Shauna Chang where she worked in her family's bar in China Town. They very quickly fell very madly in love. She supported him working the circuit, and though he neve made it big on the national stage, he was something of a local legend on the circuit, and those that would care to would continue to see his name listed as extra talent on a lot of singles and albums. He started to venture into production and event facilitation, again with Shauna's full support and assistance, and eventually they started a small pop-up company out of her family's bar that helped connect up-and-comers with a variety of venues and events around the city. 3 years later, Elizabeth was born.
She was a surprise, not a mistake, and though Shauna and Felix never officially tied the not, the little girl certainly tied their little unit together like nothing else could. Doubling down on their new business, Felix and Shauna really made it work and could comfortably support their family and lifestyle. When Betty eventually displayed her powers at a young age, Felix did not hesitate to recommend she attend XI. Shauna had always heard him speak so favourably of attending there, and was familiar with the place after multiple visits to see old friends etc., and so happily agreed.
