Psychological Description
Personality: Alyssa is a very angry person, suffering with a slightly unusual bipolar disorder since a young age. Very few things elicit strong emotion from her other than anger and rage, which she is quick to on an upswing of her condition. Elsewise, the other end of her spectrum is a state of complete bitter apathy. The only time in her ife she has ever felt aything akin to happiness was while with her partner Emily, but she left her, and Alyssa fell into an even worse spectrum of apathy and rage.
Relationships: Alyssa's parents began to slowly disengage with her as her condition worsened, and as hard as they tried to care for her, she made it more and more difficult for them to be able to. Eventually they simply couldn't cope and she was admitted to a specialist facility for powered youths with unmnaaged mental conditions. She was 13. It was there she met Emily 3 years later; she was a volunteer in a horticulture education and therapy session, not a patient. They paid each other special attention, and ultimately fell in love. It was this change in Alyssa that encouraged the facility doctors to approve her release at 18 to move in with Emily, who seemed to have such a good effect on Alyssa's mental health, in conjunction with medication. Emily ultimately left, however, when Alyssa's angry nature towards everyone else continued to be a problem, and increasingly so when it became more and more difficult for Emily to cope, which in turn made Alyssa's angry moods turn on her too as she subconsciously sensed the change. Alyssa spiralled, and eventually the Brotherhood interfered and took her away before authorities could arrest her.
Powers & Abilities: Alyssa has super strength and durability, and despite her blindness increible senses that paint quite the detailed picture around her in scents, sounds and sensations. Her level of anger exponentially increases her level of strength and endurance, to the point that in a sort of berserker rage she can be a near unstoppable force that registers no pain through the red mist.
Weaknesses: It would be easy to say that Alyssa's moods are her biggest weakness, leaving her vulnerable in apathy, or getting her into a lot of trouble when raging... but the truth is that those situations aren't a weakness for her, because she just doesn't care. She's already a villain in trouble anyway, and even in apathy she's still incredibly durable and won't just simply let people hurt her; it'd only piss her off. However, her blindness can be an issue. She can effectively "see" the world around her in sounds, scents and sensations, but thee are facets that still escape her, like colour and sometimes finer visual detail that the other senses need a deeper interaction with to get a full sense of (such as texture, which might come across from the sound bouncing off it sometimes, but often requires her to have to touch to fully percieve). She doesn't maintain relationships very well, certainly not healthy ones. And she does hold grudges, they can be problematic if not managed properly.
Skills: Alyssa has no specially trained skills, and no particular combat disciplines. She's simply a bulldozer.
Equipment: Alysa carries no equipment of her own, but entertains a communicator if the Brotherhood need her to
Background: Alyssa's mother came to America as part of a research team exploring the possibility of Viking settlements further south on America's east coast. She met Alyssa's father and ultimately settled in New York with him. When Alyssa was born, they were initially upset by the fact she was so obviously blind, her milky white eyes being a defect from birth, but as she grew it became quite clear that was able to cope quite well and it was rarely a matter of particular concern. They were amazed, and the fact Alyssa was a mutant was soon confirmed. She was found to have incredible fidelity with her other senses, but also was much stronger than a child her age should be.
Alyssa's first 10 years passed quietly, with much love and affection. But she seemed to hit her teenage rebellion phase quite early at the age of 10. Her parents thought it must just have been a phase beginning early, and perhaps they'd be fortunate and she'd grow out of it sooner than other children also. They were wrong. Alyssa only continued to get worse, for no apparent reason. She fell into deep funks of bitter apathy from which they couldn't elicit any kind of interest and excitement from her. On the contrary, at the smallest thing that irritated her, Alyssa would fly into a violent rage with little to no concern for the consequences of her actions. Sh would employ her full, and already substantial strength, to simply lash out in anger. It was never simply just to get her own way or what she wanted, she enever really seemed to want anything due to the apathy... she simply raged and destroyed what she could in an almighty tantrum.
She was diagnosed with bipolar, and they tried everything to cope: therapy, medication, every recommended activity or diet change going... but nothing worked. At 13, one of Alyssa's rages demolished the external wall to their 5th floor New York apartment (luckily not structurally important), and they finally had to accept that they could do nothing. They approved her being admitted to a specialist facility for powered youths with unmanaged mental and emotional conditions, and finally checked out of the relationship altogether. it was along time coming, Alyssa had simply pushed them too far away. She didn't even care.
It was in the facility that Alyssa met Emily. Emily wasn't another patient, but a volunteer from the local high school, a couple years older than Alyssa, who came to help run an eduational and hopefully therapeutic horticulture session. The session itself frustrated Alyssa terribly, but the attention she got from Alyssa was the first thing she felt anything positive about since she was 10. As the years went on, it became clear they were becoming close, and Alyssa's moods were improving, and her rage's drastically lessening with Emily's influence. Once Alyssa turned 18, they approved her leaving the facility, and she moved in with Emily. They loved each other, and life was good for a long time.
Until it wasn't. They rented a cheap apartment in a tenement building, good enough for what they wanted out of life, but the other residents were not exactly the salt of the earth. They took issue with the fact Alyssa was a mutant, or 'freak'. There were also instances where her blindness, or the nature of the relationship, were also commented upon. Alyssa's anger quickly became an issue again, but only ever directed at them and Emily still had the knack to calm her down quickly enough. When she was there. Eventually, having to be with Alyssa all the time became the status quo to ensure she didn't act rashly, and this began to put a strain on their relationship. Alyssa, subconsciously, began to sense this and soon her anger became harder for Emily to calm... and eventually Emily became a victim of it too.
This continued for a few years, Emily doing her best to stick it out, believing if they just got Alyssa's medication reviewed one more time (after a thousand), or they could find somewhere better to live, or maybe Alyssa would just calm down... then things would be okay. But it never happened. Alyssa just got worse an worse, until finally, Emily could do nothing... and in truth, was afraid. She left. At first, it didn't register with Alyssa through a particularly deep episode of bitter apathy. When she experienced a brief upswing from a randomly firing happy memory of their early relationship, it dawned on her that Emily had gone. Stood there, said her piece, explained her position, cried and begged as Alyssa just sat there mute... and left. Alyssa's rage in that moment was greater than it ever had been before, and the destruction of their second floor apartment precipitated the collapse of the whole building, killing two and injuring 7 others.
Alyssa walked away unharmed before emergency services could show up. She knew they'd find her eventually, but didn't care. Either they'd take her away in silence, or they'd have their heads torn from their shoulders. She didn't care which. It would probably be the latter. The Brotherhood found her first, however, and convinced her to join them. Again, she didn't care much for their concern or hollow promises... just that she would be away from there.
