Name: Fetuilelagi Ott (Fet-oo-ee-le-la-gi)
Alias: Burst
AKAs: Fetu
Physical Description
Hair: Black, short and messily styled
Eyes: Gold
Ethnicity: Samoan
Age: 17
Build: Muscular, athletic, 6'2''
Uniform/Costume: Burst wears a typically X-team motifed uniform of boots, pants and t-shirt.
Personal Style: Fetu typically wears jeans with either t-shirts or casual shirts, and trainers.
Psychological Description
Personality: Fetu is a confident young man, but not obnoxious. He is the second son of a large Samoan family, and so had many responsibilities and a "destiny" back home, in as much as old traditions are still held to within their tribe. He is friendly, caring and generous, but can sometimes be a little fool-hardy and dense.
Relationships: Fetu has a large family of aunts, uncles, siblings, and both sets of his grandparents are still alive also. his family expands beyond that, to members of his family's "tribe", and he is close with all of them despite now living in New York. He has many friends at Xavier's institute.
Powers/Abilities: Fetu's mutant ability allows his body to store solar energy that he can then release in concentrated force blasts or broad waves, almost like solar flares. The energy also affords him increased strength and durability, and when engaged he will appear to have a golden glowing aura.
Weaknesses: Fetu's abilities are predicated on him having a store of solar energy. He can only acquire this energy directly from the Sun, starlight or UV alternatives simply do not work.
Skills: Fetu was trained in traditional Samoan combat styles from a very young age as tradition dictates, and has kept that up even while learning new combat styles at Xavier's Institute. He is also well versed in a variety of manual disciplines such as construction and repair, thanks to the style of life back home; often it was his responsibility to build new garden walls, mend the tractors or trucks, or help build a barn or new hut etc.
Equipment: Fetu employs the usual X-team gadgets, and has a cell-phone. He also has his own truck, a beat up looking old pick-up that he takes very good care of.
Background: Fetu was the second born son of a new generation in his "tribe". As such, tradition dictated he would have a responsibility to his family as a great defending warrior in the years to come, destined to be their next 'war-chief', second in command to his cousin the future chief, when the time came. His family and their "tribe" were reasonably well modernised, but they kept a hold of some of their heritage none the less, mostly the familial and traditional ethics that protected their little community.
However, Fetu was also born with his deep golden eyes. There was an old myth that told of a son born with the eyes of the Sun. It was all, of course, coincidence; he could have just as easily been born with a mutation that caused him to have blue or green eyes, and someone would have remembered a myth about a son prophesised to be born with the eyes of the sea, or the eyes of the jungle. Etc. etc.
As he grew, it became clear he had super-human abilities. After spending enough time in the sun, his body would glow with the solar energy he had taken in. He was stronger and tougher than anyone else his age, and he grew into a strong young man. He lived up to all of his responsibilities, and then some. But, when he was 15, there was an episode in which the energy he'd amassed was unexpectedly discharged. He had not yet learned how to expel the energy in force blasts or waves, and the first time he did so was an accident, coming as quite a surprise.
Mostly because he was indoors and destroyed the whole wall of a new hut he was helping build.
Charles Xavier detected the outburst of this power through Cerebro, and came to offer his services to the tribe. They were concerned that Fetu had power he did not understand, and could be dangerous to their home if he didn't learn to control them. There was some pushback from Fetu's parents and their generation, but his grandparents and other elders saw the merit of what Charles Xavier offered, and an agreement was struck. Fetu would go to New York, but return home whenever he wanted, welcome to come and go as often as he liked and whenever needed by the tribe.
Fetu has lived mainly at the Institute since then, returning home for most holidays etc., learning to channel and control his abilities.
